Rev. Dr. Orville James Bio

Lead\Co-ordinating Minister ext. 19

Born in Ottawa, Orville grew up in several communities where his father (also a minister) served the United Church. He graduated from the University of Windsor (B.Sc), Queen’s (M.Div) and Princeton (D. Min). He has served churches in New Brunswick and Southern Ontario, most recently at Wellington Square United, in Burlington (next to Hamilton).
He tries to stay on a constant learning and growth curve -about prayer, spiritual formation, contemporary worship, leadership, and the renewal of Christ’s church.
Orville and Nancy just celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. They have three 20-something children. Orville still plays hockey in winter and golf in summer. He loves football (CFL), and cheers for the Detroit Red Wings (grew up in Windsor). He continues to hope that his best round on the golf course is in the near future. That is a faint possibility; What is more certain is that Christ’s Spirit is alive and moving in the church, and bringing renewal and deeper faith wherever hearts are open and receptive.

Childhood ambition.....football player for the Ottawa Rough Riders; and\or medical missionary to Africa

Proudest moment.....walking my daughters down the aisle, at their weddings

Fondest memory.....weeks spent with Nancy, while on sabbatical in England

Perfect day.....B’fast with newspapers and Canada AM, play hockey or golf, late afternoon nap, dinner and Theatre Aquarius with Nancy

Favourite movie.....Nobody’s Fool (with Paul Newman); more recent ‘The Bucket List’ (Morgan Freeman & Jack Nicholson)

Favourite music.....Beatles, Eagles, Clapton; Third Day, & Worship LIVE

Inspiration.....John Wesley, Bill Hybels & my dad

Biggest challenge.....long drives & straight putts; Trusting God’s Spirit with each moment and event
