Our Ministers
I am interested in helping Wellington Square continue the journey towards its goals. I have been attending services at Wellington Square United Church as either an adherent or a member for more than 20 years and have participated in many facets of the life of the congregation. In the past, I have helped in the Sunday School, worked on and then chaired the Christian Development Committee, taken the Alpha course and some of the Bible studies, as well as serving on several other committees. More recently, I participated for a while on the Vision Committee and continue to help out or serve where I can. I particularly enjoy worship through music and have been playing with the Handbell Choir for the last 8 or 9 years. As the mother of 3 sons who have grown up in this congregation, I am concerned about our direction not only for myself but for my sons and the congregation as a whole. Teaching high school English keeps me grounded in reality while helping develop communication skills advantageous for the new Board’s important work. This Board must be able to gather us all together, encourage cooperative and individual development in our spiritual lives, and help in the community both large and small, as it is being guided by prayers and Jesus’ example.
Favourite Movies: I love romantic movies – old ones like Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun” or somewhat newer ones like Sean Connery’s “Finding Forrester,” Matt Damon’s “Good Will Hunting” or more recently Hilary Swank’s “Freedom Writers.”
Favourite Books: Oh so many … I really enjoy books with very rich language and a different perspective – like Anita Diamant’s The Red Tent, Tracy Chevalier’s Girl With A Pearl Earring, or Philippa Gregory’s The Other Boleyn Girl.
Favourite Songs: My taste in music is completely mood dependent – I love everything from classical through jazz to pop (even country) – almost anything, except heavy metal.
Favourite snackfoods: This one is easy – hors d’oevres usually ones that rich, gooey and cheese filled.
Dinner companion(s): Apart from my sons (because I seldom
seem to get to have dinner with them these days), I’d to share dinner conversation with someone like Stephen Lewis. I admire his intelligence, his wit, his accomplishments and his global view.

God is multi-faceted. People are diverse and different. We want to give people a choice of worship styles for there are as many different ways to worship the Almighty as there are types of people.
