2009-2010 CHURCH BUDGET

FROM THE BOARD: 2009-2010 CHURCH BUDGET 10-10-80

Last year the Wellington Square Church community voted for a new way of allocating our tithes and offerings.

We resolved to commit our first 10% to furthering God’s Kingdom in the world; sharing God’s mercy and love and seeking to make a difference where there is poverty, hunger, and injustice.

Our second 10% we wisely agreed to set aside for the upkeep and maintenance of our physical building in the years ahead.

The remaining 80% was to be used for the daily operation of the church; salaries, heat and hydro, telephones, computers, other equipment, ministry resources for Graceland, youth, group ministries and programs and pastoral care.

WHERE WE ARE NOW ...

We have talked about and encouraged embracing an ethic of radical generosity that is a response to God’s work and blessing in our lives. We have encouraged everyone to increase the amount of their weekly offering to reflect what they might have given to Outreach projects over the course of a year so that no Outreach project or church program goes short. We have replaced project specific fundraisers with some great community events like “Rock Your World” and “Trivia Night” and proceeds from these have been
given to support ALL Outreach projects. In doing this we have attempted to free up our Outreach volunteers to spend more time directly involved in serving people and tried to make sure that all the projects we feel God has led us to be involved with are properly provided for. We have attempted to seek a just and unified way to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Our vision is to see this church community responding passionately to the needs and plans that God brings before us in ever more generous and creative ways.

We have recognized that this is a big transition in both our thinking and our organization and have tried to be flexible and responsive to emerging challenges. Ultimately, we hope that you will all embrace this vision and contribute to the positive momentum to drive it forward. As we transition through this new budget and new way of doing things we want to recognize that sometimes God will call an individual to share over and above their regular givings to give extra support to something particular that He has laid on their hearts. If God calls you in this way we want to give individuals the freedom to respond – by using the bottom line on their offering envelope to make a special offering towards that particular initiative.

In all of this our vision and prayer is to be a unified body, for the building of God’s Kingdom, on earth as it is in heaven.

Worship Services

God is multi-faceted. People are diverse and different. We want to give people a choice of worship styles for there are as many different ways to worship the Almighty as there are types of people.

We offer:: Contemporary rock services; Classic inspirational worship; Joyful, passionate Spirit-led worship; Contemplative, meditative worship
