Shift schedule

Well, it’s that time of year again.

Over the past three years we’ve been able to raise almost $9,000 for our outreach projects by donating some of our time to help with the security responsibilities at Ribfest.

Just to allay any fears, the security role doesn’t involve any physical confrontations. There are police at the event to handle those rare situations. We are there as a visible presence and to help out in emergencies such as requests for medical help or reporting of missing children. We also man the two entrances to ensure no alcohol is brought in or out of Spencer Smith park and to keep track of total visitors in the park.

The only requirement is that the security staff need to be 18 years or older. There is no upper age limit. I’ve had a number of octogenarians help out in the past. For those of you who helped out over the last three years, I’m am so grateful for the time and effort you put in. Please think about other family or friends that might be willing to lend a hand.

I’ll be holding two or three orientation meetings at the church for those that haven’t participated before or if you just want to get more information. Orientation meetings are Thur. Aug. 16, Mon. Aug. 20, and Mon. Aug. 27 at 7pm at the church.

This is great opportunity to help our church and our community and I guarantee you’ll have a lot of fun doing it. This year the honorarium available is $7,000 so I’d like to get a large share of this pool to help out with our various outreach projects. Over the past three years WSUC participation has been dropping and I’d like to turn this around.

I’ve attached this years shift schedule. Take a look at it and let me know what shift(s) you would like to cover and I’ll update my master list. Anyone doing two consecutive shifts will get fed and those working the evening shift get to help take care up the “spillage” at the end of the night.

Thanks in advance for all your support.
