Foodgrains update from India

Earlier this year Mary Beth Sanate from Foodgrains Bank shared with us the work she is doing in northeast India (near the border of Myanmar and Thailand. Recently she shared how the money we sent for blankets has made such a difference among the poor in her community. Here are some emails and photos from her.

Here’s some more pictures. Hope you will enjoy looking at them. The pictures tells stories; the local church leader handing over the blanket to beneficiary, all beneficiaries with a thank you note to Burlington United Church, Mr Ngurkamlo, beneficiary with his wife & grandson on their bed, Mrs lalawi, a widow beneficiary in front of her hut, children receiving cakes from Mrs Nunnem, Coordinator @ RWUS., the pastor quarter, where the meetings take place. Here’s few more feedbacks from the beneficiaries;

“ I could no longer weave clothes as I am getting old and unhealthy. Nightclothes is very difficult for me to have enough to make myself warm.. I thank God and the people who gave me warm clothes” Mrs Lalawi, 84 years( the old lady in the picture, standing infront of her small and old hut )

“I’ve never had any gift from anybody so far. When the church leader informed me that I will be getting blanket as gift from Canada , I was in tears with happiness. I’m convinced  that God knows my need and thus gave me the thing I have never ask for” Mrs Lalsangmawi, .42 years and mother of 3 kids

Thank you & God continue to bless you to be a source of blessings for others.

Well, we went to Tuiring on 28th for distribution of your blankets and clothes from our side. It was a wonderful experience for the four of us who went from RWUS. We really wish that you could share our joy with us on the day. About 100 people including children came to attend the program. We distributed also tea and cakes for the children. We were though sad to see how it has been so precious for them, the not so valuable things for us such as disposal cups, cake covers and Polly thins. The children would collects used disposal cups, empty mineral water bottles; eat up even the covers of the cakes. There was nothing they would not like to keep with them. I guess they never need a trash bin.
The villagers especially the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to our church and promised they would continue to pray for your ministry.
