Community Dinners

A delicious free meal served on Friday nights at 6pm.

The Downtown Community Dinners is a shared ministry, hosted at Wellington Square United Church, supported by the faith communities of Burlington Baptist Church, Knox Presbyterian Church, Port Nelson United Church and Wellington Square.

Where it started…
The Downtown Community Dinners started in June 2009 as an initiative for the men of Wellington Square to become more active in serving and connecting. Dinners have been served every other Friday, and offer a meal and fellowship with the door wide open to everyone in our community.

Where it’s going…
Starting February 5th, the meals expanded beyond a men’s only team, serving meals every Friday, still here at Wellington Square. With a more regular schedule, more people in our community will look to these dinners as a place to eat a healthy meal and to join in fellowship.

How can you help?
Our biggest need is for volunteers with a big serving heart who are able to commit once a month to running a dinner as the main leader of a small group of volunteers. Even if you have never done large volume cooking or serving before, you will be walked through this amazing experience and taught how and what is needed to make the evening a success. You would need to be available from about 4pm to 8pm. All food and supplies will be provided for you.
