Fixing Our Eyes

Hebrews
We don’t know who wrote it or who received it, and we can only guess about when (probably before 70 CE).
Although it’s lumped in with the letters, it isn’t a letter; it’s a homily or a treatise. Some early church leaders questioned whether it should be included among the scriptures at all, but by 100 CE, it had already so impacted the lives of congregations across Europe and Africa that there was no turning back.
But what does Hebrews say? Hebrews is about Christ. It is a sustained argument for how we should regard Christ and how that grows out of faith in Jesus. In the process, it challenges us to pursue Christ, to live like Jesus, to honour Christ, to follow Jesus, to have faith, and to use that faith for the good of Christ and those He came to save.
It is a message that deepens us and pushes us onward to faith that matters.
