In Medieval Europe, the government learned it was out of silver and couldn’t make any more coins. An order was given to search the land for silver. The only silver to be found was in cathedrals, in the statues of saints. The order was given. Take them, melt them down and put the saints back into circulation! – Anonymous
...about the satisfaction of ‘hitting the finish line’.
Listening to several candidates in the municipal elections there was a sense of relief once election day had come. Even if they didn’t win, there was a sense of accomplishment and achievement. Two of my friends, who were candidates, said to me they ‘had a great time, and are thankful for the experience’. They’ve served the community in various ways, for numerous years and this election was one more way they helped us live out democracy and freedom. I’m grateful to them.
We crossed a finish line here at the church this week, too: a final meeting with our architect and contractor resulted in an agreement on completion of the construction project. The big work with the builder is essentially done.
There are still some furnishings to install in various parts of the building, and we have several separate repairs and improvements that we want to do ourselves. A new Audio-Visual system is being worked toward.
However, we’ve completed the renovation and expansion. For several people there is probably a sense of relief, and satisfaction. To Scott, Allan, John, Steve, Russ & Ron (and others) thanks – well done. We’re planning a big celebration worship and party in the new year (after the new electronics are installed). We’ll thank and embarrass some of our key volunteers at that time. Bless you all.
With love, ORVILLE
