… after Jesus was born in Bethlehem, wise men from the East came … “We have seen his star and have come to worship him. — Matt. 1:1,2
… they saw the Child with Mary his mother, and they knelt down and worshipped him. Then opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. — Matt. 2:11
The last week before Christmas can have a rising sense of anticipation. Special things can happen, and I hope they do in your household and within your circle of family and friends.
What’s particularly cool are the extra new events around here this year. Of course Christmas Eve will see 1,200 to 1,500 people here in church, between the 4 services. The BONUS event is the Community Dinner being served here at 5:30 p.m. Friends from the Living Mosaic Church are volunteering to serve while we’re all in the 4:30 (children’s) or 6pm (contemporary) service. Hurray for Jesus’ team! There’s also a Christmas Day dinner at East Plains United. Consider feasting with new friends.
As we approach the final weeks of 2010 and we all keep searching for that final perfect gift for family and friends, might I remind you to search your heart for what would be an appropriate gift for the church we all love so much, which brings help and hope to thousands.
Nancy and I talk about how we can do more. God has been so good to the James family. We look forward to returning our gratitude to Him with joyful gifts to our church. I know all of you feel pretty much the same way.
