Although I’m preaching Sunday morning at Eaton Memorial Church in Toronto, I’m back in action for Wellington Square. The ‘shingles’ symptoms are gone, and I am grateful for so much support and sympathy from so many of you.
As we ramp up for the fall, I’m looking forward to the Annual General Meeting on Monday, September 14. It promises to be VERY interesting, even exciting! because of the multi-purpose agenda. Financial reports, and budget forecasts of course; election of some great new leaders for various roles (Board, Presbytery, etc). A glance at the vision and plans for the seasons ahead.
The big (and somewhat historic) agenda item will probably be the recommendation and final approval of the Building Project. Bids have come back from three contractors; our architect, and our Building Committee Chair Scott Wood believe we can accomplish the work within the budget. Scott and his team have met with Russ Jackson and John Anderson to go over the financial numbers. The Board will hear their thoughts and then bring a recommendation to the congregation on September 14.
Scott told us that, if we stay with the project as approved, resist making expensive changes or additions, we can get this done and then move on, caring for God’s people and God’s facilities here.
So … I’m relieved, and hopeful, and anticipating a great fall ahead.
Blessings to all … ORVILLE
