“What about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” — Mark 8:29

Budgets and building renos can dominate a congregational meeting. Nevertheless we know that it’s people, spiritual formation and missions that are our long-term focus. Hurray for that. The Building Renovations passed with 81% approval, so in a few weeks we’ll start to see hard hats and safety boots around here. What I was really happy about was the overall atmosphere and sense of grace and graciousness, even with details that made some uneasy. We treated each other well, and that’s something great about being in a church. Also, in recent months, as I have talked with the folks who had concerns and resistance, the issue for many was the finances, and slightly different priorities. They know there is work to be done on our building. They would prefer we fix other things first – sound system, boilers for heating, and roof will all need attention, sooner or later. The good news is that the sound system already has people working toward a solution, and the areas of the roof that have leaked occasionally will be re-surfaced as part of the renovation. So we’ll do this reno, and we’ll continue to maintain these facilities, while continually reminding ourselves that the building is the tool, to serve the community of Christ. Blessings to you and yours … ORVILLE
P.S. We’ve just learned of the passing of Katie’s mom. She and the family had good time to prepare and to say good-bye. Katie had a precious friendship with her mom. She and the family will grieve. We can offer our sympathy and support through prayer and cards. And we know that they grieve with hope and confidence, for we all live and die in the assurance of the Resurrection.
