church is another word for community
Our Church is a community of all kinds of people of different ages, perspectives, orientations, neurologies, and stories, who come together to connect with God, each other, and ourselves, and through the way and teachings of Jesus, experience a new way of being human and alive in the world – a way of truth, joy, belonging, peace, and love, a way that transforms us so we can help transform the world into one where everyone has enough and everyone has a place.
what we believe
We believe in a God of Extravagant & Indiscriminate Love, that Jesus opens up for us a new way to be human and alive in the world, and that it’s through things like community, justice, vulnerability, scripture, peace, generosity, authenticity, kindness, justice, hope, grace, and love that we not only transform ourselves, but help transform the world.
That’s it. That’s what matters the most. As Jesus put it, it all boils down to this:
love God, love yourself, love others.
our mission:
seeking the way of Jesus together
our guiding values:
spirituality: exploring faith and our connection with God
community: being ourselves, supporting each other, and creating space for all
justice: serving our neighbours, and imagining & pursuing a better world.
everyone belongs here
At Wellington Square United Church, we embrace the liberating love of Jesus Christ. We recognize that we are not perfect and have not always loved well. We have not been inclusive and have caused harm. Moving forward, we are committed to doing better: loving, growing, listening, learning, and taking action to be more inclusive.
We commit to honouring the value of all people, spanning any ability, disability, economic status, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexuality (2SLGBTQIA+), mental wellness, age, marital status, neurodiversity, or theological perspective. We commit to the purposeful cultivation of a church community that provides a safer and more inclusive space for everyone to encounter the love of God.
Accessibility is important to us. We are proud to be an accessible building, with accessible/gender neutral washrooms and spaces in our pews for all kinds of mobility aids. We also have hearing-aids available for Sunday Services.
we are grateful to gather in the heart of Burlington on the traditional land of the Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee, the Métis, & the Mississaugas of the Credit

our church board
In the United Church, it’s our tradition that the church is led by the community. Our Board and leadership teams are made up of the people who call our church ‘home’ and believe in what we are doing.
